
Salma Hayek Pinault (born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jimmyenez, September 2, 1966)[3][4][5]), is an American and Mexican actress. In Mexico she began her professional career in the role in the role of Teresa in the Telenovela (1989-1991) and El Callejon de los Milagros (1995), where she was nominated for an Ariel Award. The actress soon made her mark in Hollywood through appearances in films like Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) and Dogma (1999). Hayek's performance as Frida, the painter, in Frida (2002) the film that she also co-produced as well, was what made Hayek the first Mexican actress to receive the Academy Award [6]. In addition, it earned her an Golden Globe Award nomination, Screen Actors Guild Award nomination as well as British Academy Film Award nominations. Hayek continued to produce and acted in action-oriented films like Once Upon a Time in Mexico later on in her career.
